Payment is required 48 hours' in advance of every appointment booking.
Your appointments are very important to me and I will do everything possible to make the process easy for you to book at a time that suits you.
Please bear in mind that if you forget or cancel your appointment without giving enough notice, an opportunity to offer that appointment time to another client is missed.
Therefore, I operate a 48 hours' cancellation policy. If you cancel an appointment over 48 hours' in advance, you will not be charged for the missed session. If you cancel after that, or if you cannot attend, you will still need to pay for the appointment.
The only exception to this being if a genuine emergency has prevented you from attending. In such circumstances, each cancellation will be considered on its facts.
In a therapy session, you can feel at ease in a safe and confidential space. I encourage you to discuss any thoughts, emotions and feelings that are on your mind. Therapy can be incredibly beneficial for individuals facing a variety of challenges, and can help you gain insights into your emotions, behaviours, and patterns of thinking.
Your therapy is 100% confidential. Information shared in therapy is protected by privacy laws, and therapists are bound by ethical guidelines to maintain confidentiality except in specific circumstances.
When considering therapy, it's vital to prioritise your sense of safety, comfort, and connection with your therapist, alongside assessing their credentials and experience. Remember, you are hiring the therapist to assist you. If you’re not happy or comfortable with the therapist, you don’t owe it to him or her to come back again - this will not help you on your healing journey.
Trust your instincts in gauging if a therapist aligns with your needs, regardless of factors like race, gender, nationality, or language fluency. Unless these factors take you outside of your comfort zone.
If you don't feel a connection initially, don't hesitate to explore other options until you find someone who feels right.
While longer therapy sessions lasting 60-90 minutes may seem daunting, research shows that they offer significant benefits. These extended sessions allow for a stronger therapeutic relationship with more time to discuss the clients' presenting issues. With more time available, clients have longer to discuss their feelings and experiences which can allows them to process their insight which leads to increased understanding and empowerment.
Additionally, longer sessions provide the opportunity to address issues in depth, resulting in more effective and lasting results compared to shorter sessions. Often, shorter sessions can feel like they are over soon after they have begun without much real progress being made.
As we are all unique with our own and different issues, the duration varies for each person. Some people find a few sessions is enough to explore and make the changes they desire. However, other clients may benefit from more long-term work if they are attempting to work through long-established behaviours or issues.
Whatever your requirements are, we can discuss and agree the number of sessions in the initial session. I believe that consistency and openness is important to make good progress.
I have regular check-ins with my clients to ensure the agreed approach is still suitable, and to tweak things that can make our time together more effective.
Therapy is not a one-size-fits-all solution, and what works for one person may not help another. It's important for clients to feel comfortable and at ease during their healing journey and the work that they are doing.
Holistic healing may call for a combination of traditional and non-traditional therapy modalities tailored to individual needs. By embracing a variety of approaches, clients can address their issues more comprehensively, paving the way for more effective and sustainable healing outcomes.
For example, while Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a widely used approach, it's important to recognise that this alone may not be sufficient for addressing deep-seated trauma or overcoming addiction. A client may wish to supplement this with a more practical approach such as EMDR or somatic bodywork or another approach.
Hypnotherapy is a state of focused attention and heightened suggestibility. During a hypnotherapy (or hypnosis) session, you'll be guided into a state of deep relaxation and focused attention and I will then use various techniques such as visualisation and positive suggestions to help you achieve your desired goals. Hypnotherapy is nothing to be worried about - its actually proven to be one of the most effective methods of therapy, with great results!
It is important to note that hypnotherapy is far from what is shown on TV, social media and stage entertainment. With me, you will remain aware of your surroundings at all times and be completely in control. You cannot be made to do anything against your will. It is a very safe and effective approach, backed by research and case studies. Small steps can be taken for those in need of reassurance.
If you have any uncertainties or questions about hypnotherapy, please get in touch.
Hypnotherapy can benefit anyone who is looking to improve their mental health or overcome certain behaviours. Research shows that Hypnotherapy can be successful in treating a range of presenting issues such as phobias, anxiety, depression, trauma and habit behaviours. The number of sessions needed varies depending on the individual and the issue being addressed.
Anyone can be hypnotised as long as they're willing to participate and have the motivation to make sustained changes.
